Windows 11 Reaches 30% Adoption on Steam, Surpassing Windows 10 Market Share

A recent Steam Hardware and Software Survey shows that nearly a third of Steam users are running Microsoft’s Windows 11. This represents a milestone in Microsoft’s history and is seemingly achieved at the expense of Windows 10, which still remains the most widely used operating system among the gaming audience, but saw a decline of 1.96 points in January 2023.

Windows 10 currently holds 63.46% of Steam’s user base, while Windows 11 saw an increase of 1.91 points to reach a new high of 30.33%. Despite being unsupported since 2020, Windows 7 still has a small following on Steam with 1.6% of users. Its 64-bit version saw a decline of 0.06 points in January 2023. In total, 96.02% of Steam users run Windows (0.13), followed by macOS with a mere 2.61% and Linux with 1.38% with Windows XP last.
