Abstract:
The AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor was released in May 2007 as a high-end desktop processor. This processor was designed with the aim of providing better performance than its predecessors in terms of both clock speed and power consumption. This paper aims to evaluate the performance of the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor through a comprehensive benchmarking analysis conducted at the time of its release. The evaluation is based on the comparison of the processor’s performance with other contemporary processors available in the market.
Introduction:
The advancement of technology has led to the development of faster and more efficient processors. The AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor is one such processor, released in 2007 as a high-end desktop processor. Methodology:
The benchmarking analysis was conducted using a testbed consisting of an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard, 2GB of DDR2-800 memory, and a GeForce 8800GTX graphics card. The operating system used for the analysis was Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit, and the benchmarks were run using the following software:
- PCMark05: A benchmark that evaluates the performance of the processor and memory subsystems, as well as the hard disk and graphics performance.
- 3DMark06: A benchmark that evaluates the graphics performance of the processor.
- Cinebench 9.5: A benchmark that evaluates the performance of the processor in rendering 3D graphics.
The AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor was compared with other contemporary processors available in the market at the time, including the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 and the AMD Athlon 64 FX-62.
Results:
